*EASY - NO BAKE!* 4th OF JULY FIRECRACKER TRUFFLES

I can't believe 4th of July is almost here! This is by far my favorite holiday of the year. I spend each 4th of July up in Door County with Matt and his family at their lake house - there's just no other way to spend the 4th than on the water! Each year I try to bring something cute and festive for the holiday so this year I took a shot at making these no bake 4th of July Firecracker Truffles. These were pretty messy but nonetheless, fun to make and so good!

Servings: ~25 truffles
Prep time: 30 minutes
Full time: 2 hours

Ingredients:
  •  1 stick of butter, room temp
  • 1 1/2 cups yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup of festive sprinkles
  • 2 cups of white baking morsels
  • 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil
 Other items you need:
  •  Wax paper or aluminum foil to line the pan
Instructions:
  •  Mix butter, yellow cake mix, sugar, flour, and vanilla extract until a firm dough forms and there are no lumps left
  • Mix in festive sprinkles
  • roll dough into 1 inch balls and place on a large baking sheet covered with wax paper
  • place in freezer for 10 min
  • While dough is chilling, melt baking morsels in a pan STIRRING CONSTANTLY. Once the morsels start melting, take off the pan and mix every few seconds!!!
  • Once completely melted, stir in vegetable oil until smooth
  • dip truffle balls in melted chocolate (using toothpick or fork)
  • Add sprinkles on top IMMEDIATELY after coating in chocolate as desired
  • Let truffles coating harden for 20 min in the fridge

Can store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Truffles do not need to be stored in the fridge, but can be if you like them cold!

Now let's take a minute to see what happens when I don't follow instructions on how to melt the chocolate baking morsels:

LOL - oops.

What are your plans for the holiday?

xo, Allie
