WHY I HATE "BUSY" ft. COOL WATCH GIVEAWAY!!

Lately, the word 'busy' has started to feel more like an excuse than an adjective.
As the years after college go by, I have developed a pretty set daily routine. Being a creature of habit, this is something I depend upon yet sometimes I feel overwhelmed with a sense of ordinary.
After 2 hours in the car each day and 8 hours of work I feel burnt out. All I want to do after work is make some dinner, collapse on my couch, and watch some Bravo. After a while, I find myself confusing this robotic routine of everyday life for 'busy', when in reality - we have the same hours in a day as Beyonce. If that quote doesn't stick with you, then I don't know what will TBH.

I'm writing this to take a stance on the excuse of busy. I firmly believe you make time for things you want to make time for. I know weekends get booked up so quickly with prior engagements and adult-like things like weddings, birthdays, showers, etc. but guess what? Life happens outside of weekends.
You can wake up earlier to get that workout in (not me, but you - I enjoy my sleep lolz). You can get in your 'reading time' by listening to the audio book on your daily commute. You can schedule standing monthly dinners with the friends you don't get to see too often. You can accept the invitation to a social event on a weeknight even if you have to wake up early in the morning. Do you see a common theme here? You can... if you want to.

"Nobody is ever too busy - if they're interested, they will make time."

I recently got together with one of my best friends from high school after about 4 months of not seeing each other. It was so overdue and I felt badly about not making more effort. The next week we were texting and she said, 'When can we hang out again - even if it's just eating takeout and drinking wine on your couch!'. It really is as simple as that, and it doesn't have to be on a weekend! So Thursday we are going for a wine and sushi date. Look how easy that was.

So at the end of the day, you make time for what is important and there is no time like now. Keep track of your time in style with JORD Watches. Each and every one of these watches are so special and unique. The chic wood is versatile and stylish for both men and women! This would make a perfect gift anyone special in your life - especially for Mother's Day! You can even get your special timepiece engraved. Check out some of my favorites HERE. My personal favorite is the Frankie Purpleheart & Plum! I mean... what a stunning color for Spring and Summer.

  3. I think sometimes people let other things in life go first versus doing what they want to do. Hence, why they get so 'busy'. But you are right, and we can make time if we do make the time!

  8. 100% agree about your stance on being busy. I feel like people always use that as the worst excuse ever for anything. It's also a nice form of rejection these days. Like "I'm too busy for a relationship" instead of "i'm just not that interested." We just have to be honest with ourselves and realize we're never too busy for what we care about!!

  11. I just graduated college and I'm about to enter the real world (work) so I'm trying to prepare myself by using every moment of each day. I started by listening to podcasts at the gym instead of music which has already made me feel more productive! Great message and lovely watch!

  14. Beyonce does have a house full of staff, but I get your point:)) I sometimes use "Busy" as an excuse, and then complain that nothing exciting happens in my life. It`s something I am trying to work on.

  23. This was a really interesting post with a lot of truth. There are always small things we can do to fit in the stuff we WANT to. I do disagree with the Beyonce quote though - we may have the same hours but we certainly don't have the money or staff to do all the boring bits like washing! ;-)

  35. I totally agree with this thoughtful post. I think there is almost a compulsion to be busy and much of it is self-induced. We all have more free time and more options than we realize. On another note, I really love your kimono and fabulous watch. Have a wonderful week ahead !

  36. I so agree. The word busy is so overused and I feel like we, as a culture , have a self-induced busyness that is obsessive. So I really relate to your post. And I also adore your kimono and gorgeous watch.
